Grazing in hand

Grazing in hand

Spending time allowing our horses to graze in hand is a really good socialising activity.

Taking your horse out in hand for a foraging walk can be a great activity. Allowing them to graze on other grasses, such as sedges, rushes, or on cow parsley, clivers (also known as cleavers, goosegrass and sticky weed) and dandelions is great. If you have access to hedgerows, either in your paddocks or on walks, then hawthorn, particularly in spring when the leaves are tender and it is flowering is enjoyed by many horses.
